The holiday season is synonymous with profits and success for retailers. Unfortunately, that success can be often paired with stress. This is largely in part to last minute purchases online. When everyone is trying to ship a product, post offices and shipping centers get packed. Luckily, UPS and FedEx are planning to hire 150,000 new full time and temporary employees to meet the spike on holiday demand. UPS will also hold an unspecified surcharge for its high volume customers.

Not too long after news that it was shutting down its webstore business, Amazon announced it will be directing its former webstore users to Shopify’s eCommerce platform. Both companies have been working together to develop tools that will ease the migration from one platform to the next. Shopify’s Chief Platform Officer Harley Finkelstein has called the migration a “wonderful endorsement for us”.
