Grill Brand Analytics for Memorial Day Weekend

Mobee and Quad Analytix merged to form Wiser Solutions Inc. in 2017.

It’s finally May and we all know what that means: we just crossed the threshold into ALMOST guaranteed nice weather. And with nice weather, summer grill sales begin to blossom (in other words, it’s grilling season).

Last year we collected data at 300 Walmart and Target stores across the country to look at which grill brands were having the greatest influence on consumers during grill season. We looked at eight of the top grill brands on the market and we wanted to see how each brand was promoting their products. What we discovered was Char-Broil was easily leading the pack in promotion efforts by having the largest number of units on display and they received the most employee recommendations.

According to our data, Char-Broil grills were found on display 78% of the time at Target and 44% at Walmart by consumers. The next closest brand was Weber Grills and they were found on display 20% of the time at Target and 9% at Walmart. Char-broil grills were not only the most displayed product in both stores, but they were also recommended in both channels 57% of the time by employees in the store.

It seems like Char-Broil grills were trying to make their presence known around Memorial Day last year and their efforts were successful. They definitely made quite the impression on consumers at both Walmart and Target.
