Mobee Moves to New Office Space for Growth Year Ahead

Boston startup forecasts 50 percent growth in staff over the next year with new 7,000-square-foot space 

BOSTON, Mass. (June 13, 2016)  – Mobee, a leading provider of crowdsourced in-store data collection for brands and retailers, today announced the company will relocate from its coworking space in WeWork South Station to its own office, a 7,000 square-foot space at 99 High Street in downtown Boston. The move is indicative of Mobee’s rapid growth since securing $7.3M in Series A funding.

“Over the past year, we’ve tripled our client base, doubled our staff, made three strategic executive hires and set ourselves up for 400+ percent sales growth year-over- year,” said Hal Charnley, president and CEO of Mobee. “Our new office is a testament to how far we’ve come and our overall trajectory. This space will accommodate 50 percent employee growth that will take our business to the next level.”

According to Forrester, in-store analytics are ushering in a new era of store efficiency, and the smartest retailers will start combining data from various sources to make operational decisions in real-time. Mobile is a growing source of insights, with more than 90 percent of consumers using smartphones in-store. Mobee’s growth echoes the need for greater visibility in-store, and demonstrates the expanding role of mobile crowdsourcing in measuring shelf health, promotional compliance, and overall brand and retail performance at scale.

Mobee’s executive hires over the past 12 months have included Mike Grimes, Chief Revenue Officer, former SVP of digital retail solutions at Catalina; Evan Walsh, VP of Engineering, former director of engineering at Rue La La; and Chris Angell, Head of Marketing, former head of global marketing and advertising at ShopperTrak.

Mobee’s solution includes a mobile app that rewards its users—“bees”—for conducting undercover “Mobee Missions” at popular stores like Walmart and Stop and Shop, and a web-based dashboard where clients can view raw data and reporting in real-time. Over the past year, Mobee has registered 600,000 iOS and Android app downloads, tripled the number of Mobee Missions, and established partnerships with both niche and major brands, including fellow Boston startups and a leading consumer electronics manufacturer.
